Japan and EU Concluded EPA Negotiations

The Japan-EU EPA negotiation is finalized on 8 December.  The parties reached to an broad agreement in July and confirmed the conclusion, excluding the investor protection issue. They aim to sign the deal by next summer and put it into effect by spring of 2019.  The EPA will be the biggest economic zone, worth about 37% of the global trade deal.  The joint statement by Prime Minister Abe and the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker is available from the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  For more details, please check an article by the Japan Times.
