Japan has been a leader in introducing policies to tackle pollution and has a good track record in implementing global standards and synchronizing its legislation in compliance with international treaties. Japan has strict environmental policies in many areas, which have implications for virtually all industry sectors. We have supported corporate and non-governmental clients on a wide range of environmental issues, including recycling, trade in illegally logged timber, sustainable fishing, biodiversity, energy efficiency, water pollution, and the use and disposal of toxic substances, etc.

However, many environmental challenges remain, and new ones emerge. Among these is climate change. GR Japan has developed a strong portfolio of climate-related work for non-profit organizations covering electric vehicles, green steel, investor views, carbon pricing, and transnational energy relations between Japan and other countries.
